| Grooming Your Pet
(Q’s and A’s)
I have a poodle with bowed legs in the front. How can I conceal this when
I groom?
You just need to cut with scissors the hair on the exterior of your pet’s
elbow and on the interior of their ankle. Ensure that the hair covers
the exterior part of the ankle, it’s not simple but it definitely
helps.
How do I keep my the ears of my Poodle clean in between grooming sessions?
Sometimes, your pet’s ear won’t stick down so hard that you
can’t pick it up. Or, it can cling so tightly that it can be as
hard to pick up as your own hair. Just use a pair of tweezers to pick
the ear up.
Working with a couple of hairs at a time, remove them. Aim as going far
enough as long as the hair is still in sight. Keep in mind to do this
cautiously so that you don’t poke or squeeze the ear. Afterwards,
use a cotton ball and ear lotion (oil-free is a preference for some owners)
to wipe the ear. These can be easily purchased at a pet store.
I have a Cocker Spaniel that keeps getting foxtails in his ears and I
can’t afford to have them removed. How should I groom him myself?
The hair around the opening of the ear and the interior of his ear leather
should be cut extremely short, or you could shave the whole of it, the
interior and exterior of the ear and keep the hair that was taken out.
How can I shape the tail of a Poodle?
A lot of those grooming a poodle will leave the dog with a tail that is
mostly shaved, looking unsightly as it hangs. If you leave half of it
unshaven, there will be a sufficient amount to support the dog.
Once the poodle has been bathed and brushed completely from head to tail,
grab some hair at tail’s end and pull it straight with two of your
fingers. You’ll see how rough the edges are that should be clipped.
If you round and fluff, the tail will attain a correct shape.
When my Poodle comes into season, I want to breed her with my Dachshund.
When they have puppies, will they require clipping?
The idea is possible. The result of the breeding is not foreseeable and
the puppies will either look like your Dachshund and poodle, or not.
There are many pros and cons in the resulting appearance of mixed-breeds.
