You can chip your pets which means they'll never be lost for long.What is chipping for pets?A microchip covered in special medical glass to protect it from rejection by your pets body, and it is injected into the pet just under the skin. This chip contains a special unique number which is matched to the pet and details of your pet are kept on record for access anywhere in the UK. Information includes: pets name ,the name and address of the owner and a record of the pet's vaccinations. The chip is about the size of a grain of rice - 12mm long and 2mm in diameter. It is increasingly common with about 7500 pets being added to the register every week. Why not get your pet chipped. Your vet should be able to do this for you, as well as some animal charities. and of course vets can scan the chip. Getting discounts or free pet chippingThe Dogs Trust currently provides a reduced price microchipping service at £9.50. For pensioners and for those who are claiming any means tested benefits it is completely free. Check with your local authority to see if they're running any schemes for free pet chipping. Some local authorities will offer free vouchers or discounts for this. It is well worth checking with your council. Your council is whoeever you pay council tax to.
