When you've got a pet but money is tight you need to make sure you still look after your furry friend. Don't skimp on vet treatment, If your pet is ill then please take it to the vet!

Plus think about pet insurance. It costs a small amount each month but covers the cost of any treatment your pet needs if they get ill or have an accident!

The PDSA attend events and give free pet checks
On their site is a big list of events they will be attending. This can give your pet a free health check. This shouldn't be substitued for taking your pet to see a vet if they are sick or in pain.

The PDSA can only register clients who are in receipt of Housing Benefit or Council Tax Benefit though.

There are also RSPCA centres which offer free vet help too

RSPCA Cambridge - open to owners on means tested state benefits (including Working Tax Credit), State Pension (with no additional source of income) or disability benefits. There is a basic charge of £7 plus the cost price of drugs and operations. Vaccinations cost £7 for a rabbit and £10 for a dog or cat. Checkups cost £7.

The RSPCA Bury, Oldham & District Branch covers a large area, including the towns of Ramsbottom, Rawtenstall, Bacup, Radcliffe, Shaw and Royton.
