Missing pet?

What do to if your pet goes missing?

If your pet has gone missing then you need to stay calm!

• When was your pet last seen. Ask everyone in the house as someone may have seen them more recently.
• Check your own garden and sheds. Make sure your pet hasn't been locked in the garage or shed.
• Ask your immediate neighbours if they've seen your pet.
• Think carefully about who was mowing the lawn recently - they might have had their shed open to get the mower out. Cats in particular will sleep in a shed if they can sneak in.
• Make fliers and put notes through your neighbours doors.
• Put up ads on lamposts (*Don't forget to take them down when your pet is returned)
• Check your pet insurance as ad costs may be covered if your pet goes missing.
• Put an ad in the local paper - or loot!
• Check with local vets who may have been asked.
• Consider advertising a reward for the safe return.
• Ring round the animal shelters near by and send them a copy of the leaflet you do.
• Don't give up.

A lady who's dog was recovered from several miles from where they lived because of an ad in the loot. It was about two weeks after her dog has disappeareed but he was returned home safely.

A parrot escaped from a house locally and immediately posters were put up and fliers put through doors. Local children located the parrot in trees nearby and the parrot was safely recovered.

We lost a kitten late one evening, and it was recovered because someone had seen it and seen the missing posters. The kitten was returned!
